As well as a wide range of connectivity and net zero services, Utilligence also offers a range of products for customers who require pre-built and ready-to-install solutions.
Our bespoke substations are designed to be the most cost-effective, efficient and high performing systems for both indoor and outdoor use. Our outdoor substations give customers a safe, secure and space-efficient solution for both low and high voltage applications.
Our indoor substations can often be prefabricated offsite, reducing the impact of onsite builds and the environmental impacts that come with onsite construction and arrive pre-tested and connection ready, with small, space-efficient footprints. We also offer off-the-shelf combined substations for customers who require them.
Working with our customers, we can develop prefrabricated fast-build substations that can often halve the delivery time, to get you up and running far sooner than on-site builds. Our experience also shows that this offsite build process reduces safety risks and our expert team’s experience of working with high and low voltage systems ensures that our prefabricated solutions are easy to manage and maintain.
Utilligence substations are fully compliant to EMA and IEC approval ratings, and we offer DNO, standalone and combined solutions, as well as a replacement or upgrade service.
A solution that works for you
Our bespoke substations are supplied with all of the equipment necessary to complete a substation for a DNO or for a customer.
We frequently use modified shipping containers, which enable a complete substation to be constructed off-site and delivered using standard container lorries, removing the need for any wide load vehicles.
Our bespoke substations are fully equipped with everything needed - from insulation, LV distribution boards, heating and lighting and battery chargers. Wiring termination boxes are also fitted, which ensure that connecting to external substations and generating units is quick and simple. All LV and control wiring is presented within a termination panel. As all connections from the switchgear to this panel are already made and tested, Utilligence bespoke substations are fast to commission and get running.
They are also ideal for emergency use, where existing substations have failed and a quick replacement is needed.
The use of containers does mean that some compromises on switchgear may be needed. Switches and circuit breakers are specifically chosen so that there is ample operating space at the front of the gear, and cables are terminated from the front.
We can also supply rear-mounted cable boxes that are accessed from covers fitted to the outside of the container, to allow termination of the HV cables.
For the on-site connections, we have a range of containers that are fitted with RMU and either cast resin or liquid-filled transformers, as well as LV switchboards. These are typically used on solar pV, where each LV way is connected to marshalling boxes in the field.
Utilligence also supplies substations to the DNO. Each DNO requires different configurations, so these are all fully bespoke designs. In these instances, the space the DNO requires is more than can be provided with a single container, so we provide the switchgear in a GRP enclosure.
All our bespoke substations are built in our factory, with all plant assembled, wired and tested before it reaches site, meaning that any issues are identified and resolved in a factory environment. The plant is then delivered to site, where final connections are made, and the plant is then tested and witnessed by the DNO before becoming operational.
