Switchgear

If you need premium switchgear as part of your power solution, Utilligence can help. We have accounts with all major suppliers and have a wide range available. We identify your requirements, and then make recommendations based on your unique site demands.

Our design services will then design, supply and configure the correct switchgear for your solution, and we then supply and install whatever it is that your solution demands.

All our switchgear is IEC type tested and approved, and meets DNO compliance standards.

Utilligence offers a range of close-coupled or free-standing switchgear, from simple ring main units to full distribution boards.  We take pride in ensuring that onsite safety is paramount and that our switchgear is delivering a consistent and reliable power supply.

E

We work with premium manufacturers to supply switchgear up to 132kV.

E

As an independent connections provider, we specify, design and install high voltage switchgear that is formally approved by the local DNO. Usually, the switchgear is also compliant with the requirements of the ENA, where needed.

E

We often see solar sites where the switchgear is suffering from inadequate environmental considerations, incorrect selection of switchgear, failure of terminations, or the incorrect application of protection. Although a switchgear’s life expectancy is meant to be around 25 years, many sites will need switchgear replacement before the site reaches its design lifetime. Utilligence can provide any make of switchgear (including refurbished), even at short notice, when delivery time can be challenging, following a fault.

E

We have a partner who produces bespoke switchgear for a global customer base that we are working with to produce a 33kV ring main unit that can be retrofitted into the cast concrete structures which are provided on many sites that include a compartment for an RMU. The other part of the structure often houses a transformer. These structures are often flooded and are not an ideal environment for 33kV switchgear. Corrosion is damaging the mechanism and causing failures of operation of the switchgear.

E

Our unit is suitable for external installation, but can also be retrofitted into the concrete structures, making it a safe and reliable operating environment for both the switchgear and the operator. Any cracked and leaking floors are also being repaired and reinforced and transformers are being replaced.

E

A circuit breaker or RMU is of no use unless it is connected to a network - Utilligence’s design team are able to design, install and commission protection schemes to ensure the safe operation of a network.

E

Special schemes can be added to ensure that our switchgear operates in compliance with ENA G99, and by using the logic built into modern protection relays (or adding PLC’s) we can ensure that any requirements for auto reclose and voltage dip when energising transformers (P28) is included in the design and fully tested before delivery.
